Hopscotch is a playful way to depict the migrant’s journey, with all the difficulties he encounters, hopping from one camp to another, losing all points of reference, balance, and stability. A painful ascent, a failure for many, while others manage to successfully reach their final destination, a Heaven on earth. The artist reflects upon their journey, and his own individual journey, three decades ago. While their experiences may have differed, their personal narratives seem to hop in parallel. Invited to participate in this game, the spectator cannot help but wonder about the uncertainty of this journey, its purpose, and unknown outcome.
